Export button is disabled - How to grant a colleague permissions to export client files

Q - I would like to export a client case from Voyant but the Export button is disabled (greyed out). How can I activate it?

A - The ability to export client records is managed as a role-based permission. As a security precaution, users are not allowed to export proprietary client information without first being granted permission to do so by the subscription's owner or manager.

Subscription owners and managers do have the option to grant this export capability to their colleagues, as needed. Export permissions are managed on the Voyant website. Details follow on how to grant export permission and how to find out who your subscription manager is.

Exporting client cases from Voyant

An export option is available in Voyant Adviser that allows client records to be exported into specially formatted Voyant .vyt files.

Client records are exported by selecting (but not opening) a client record on the software’s Open Client Record dialogue and then clicking the Export button.  This exported client file could then be distributed to other users who might in turn import it into Voyant to view the client case therein and possibly save a copy of it under their own user accounts.

Exporting is a limited, role-based permission

The ability to export client records is managed as a role-based permission. As a security precaution, users are not allowed to export proprietary client information without first being granted permission to do so by the subscription's owner or manager.

While this may seem an essential feature, seldom if ever should you need to export client files. Sure, a sample client case or a template could be exported and distributed among colleagues, but there are far more efficient ways to share information in Voyant than by shuffling files from computer to computer.  Are you concerned about backing up client information? Backups are unnecessary because client files are synchronised automatically with our Amazon cloud-based hosting environment, which is backed up regularly.

This Export button will be disabled, at least initially, for most users apart from subscription owners and managers.

Note: The Export function is also disabled for all trialists, with or without this role.
