Although the key attraction of 'phased drawdown' has largely been removed (now that death benefits are largely the same), one still has the option to 'phase' the withdrawal of tax-free cash, either via Flexi-Access Drawdown (FAD), or via a series of 'Uncrystallised Funds Pension Lump Sum' (UFPLS) withdrawals. This 'phasing' of tax-free cash is illustrated below - for the purpose of the illustration, I have chosen a 10-year period but, of course, any time period can be specified:
