Redtail Integration: Resolving Holdings Issues

Transcript

In this video, I will be walking you through how to update the holdings after you have imported a client from Redtail. This can be useful for a couple of reasons: one, if you need to update the holdings allocation, and two, if it has been a while since you last imported the client.

To start, I’ll show you this client who was linked to Redtail. If I open it up, you can see that when I imported it, all the holdings were linked to cash. I want to make sure these are linked to the proper asset allocations.

Go to the top right-hand corner, select Manage Plans, and then select Update Holdings. You’ll be asked if you’re ready to start the update. Select Yes. The software will then pull updates from Morningstar, which is where we get our prices.

You’ll be asked if you would like to fix any missing holdings allocations, which are holdings the software was unable to allocate automatically. Select Yes. You will then be able to manually assign the correct allocation.

Review each holding and assign a custom allocation as needed. One thing to keep in mind: if you are using a custom set of market assumptions, you may not be able to do this. If you are using a set provided by Voyant, this should work. If your firm has uploaded a custom set of market assumptions, the holdings from Red Tail may not map automatically. You can email us at support@planwithvoyant.com for guidance.

Go through each holding, assign the appropriate allocation, and click Save. Once you reach the last holding, ensure that the total allocation adds up to 100%, then click Save again. You’ll be prompted to do a final review—scroll through and click Done to save.

Afterward, you will see an updated asset allocation pie chart. Opening the imported account will show the updated holdings, and the Growth section will display all holdings pulled in from Morningstar. You can repeat this process over time to pull updated holdings from Red Tail as needed.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions, you can always reach out by clicking the client’s name in the top right corner, selecting Request Support, entering your question, and sharing client access.
