Redtail Integration Demo

Transcript

In today’s video, I’d like to walk you through how to use the Redtail integration with Voyant.

If you haven’t done so already and would like to use this integration, reach out to us at support@planwithvoyant.com and ask us to turn it on for you. Once it’s enabled, you’ll see it as an option under the plus button. From there, you can choose to import a client, and you’ll see Redtail listed as an available integration.

Let’s bring in one of my available clients. I’m going to select Mr. O’Brien. You’ll be prompted to either match them to an existing client record in Voyant or create a new client. In this case, I’ll create a brand-new client. The system will retrieve the client data from Redtail, which will only take a few seconds.

It’s brought over a couple of accounts, so I’ll click Next. We’ll match the 401(k) to its account type by selecting “Retirement Plan” and then “401(k).” For the brokerage account, we’ll choose “Savings and Investments” and then “Investment Account” since it’s a taxable account type.

The integration also brings over the people tied to the account, including both the primary and secondary, along with their dates of birth. Review the details, make sure everything looks correct, and click Next. You’ll then see all accounts found in the Redtail file. If there’s any old or unused data you don’t want to bring in, you can click Skip. Once you’re ready, click Done to save, and you’ll have a new Voyant plan.

If you want to review what’s been brought over, click the down arrow. You can view the people in the plan and the imported assets. To edit an asset, open it and add any ongoing contributions. You can do the same for contributions on the 401(k).

If you also want to bring over holdings, you can do this through Manage Plans. Click the base plan, go to Manage Plans, and update holdings. This links the holdings to Morningstar. If the system can’t automatically link something, it will prompt you to add a custom allocation. For example, if the joint brokerage account needs a custom allocation, you can set it here, save it, and repeat for any others. Once saved, the custom asset allocation will appear in the bottom right-hand corner.

If you run into any trouble importing assets from Redtail, you can click the client’s name in the top right corner and select Request Support. And if you ever need to update data in Voyant with the most recent information from Redtail, you can go to the plus button and select Update. This will pull in the updated information so you can repeat the process and bring in any new or changed data.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
