This video provides a demonstration of how the Timeline screen and Events function within the Voyant software.

In this video, I will be walking you through how to create and delete new events on your timeline.
For the first example, I’ll show you how to add new events inside an item you’re creating in the plan. Start by going to the plus button in the bottom right, then select Income → Other Income.
Let’s say Amy will have some freelance work for a few years, bringing in about $35,000 annually. To add this to the timeline, go to the Time screen. Instead of using the prepopulated events, double-click in the gray area to set the start event. For this example, the freelance work starts in the second year of the plan.
Next, set the end event. Let’s say it ends at age 60. Double-click in the gray above the year it should end. Now we have Amy starting her freelance business at age 53 and ending at age 60. Click Done to save.
Next, let’s go to the timeline. If your client has an event they would like to delete, hover over the event icons to see what they represent. For example, if Amy no longer wants to remodel the kitchen, you’ll see that this event affects one item, indicated by a blue banner.
Click to show details, select the item, and delete it. Then return to the timeline, open the event, and the trash can icon will appear so you can remove it from the plan. Now the kitchen remodel is no longer included.
If you want to move events on the timeline, simply click and drag. For instance, if Amy decides to work until age 65, just drag the event to the new age. Use the same method to move it back if needed.
To add a new event to the timeline, go to the plus button, then select Event. For example, Amy wants to buy a boat around age 60. Add “Buy a Boat” to the timeline. Click on it to see that it is not connected to anything and has no monetary value. You can delete it if needed. This acts as a marker on the timeline to remind the adviser to discuss it with the client in the future.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out by clicking the client name in the top right, selecting Request Support, entering your message, and sharing client access.
