How to enable cookies in your browser

To begin using AdviserGo, you will need to have installed on your computer a recent release of a standard web browser. AdviserGo is supported on the latest releases of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge. Your web browser must be configured to allow cookies, which in most cases should be allowed in the browser's default security settings.

 

Cookies are files created by websites you've visited. Cookies store browsing information, like your site preferences or profile information.

 

There are two types of cookies:

 

- First-party cookies are set by the site shown in the address bar.

- Third-party cookies come from other sites that have things like ads or images embedded on the page you're visiting.

Not all cookies are bad. For example, cookies help the website remember your preferred settings so it can reload them when you revisit the site next week. Cookies can also help a website remember your location, so it can provide you with locally relevant content, like weather.

 

To use AdviserGo, VoyantGo or Snapshot, you must at least allow for (and later accept) prompts for first-party cookies from the Voyant website.

 

Chrome
On your computer, open Google Chrome.  At the top right, click More    Settings.

 

At the bottom of the dialogue, click Show advanced settings.

 

In the Privacy section, click Content settings.

 

In the Cookies section, to allow first-party and third-party cookies, choose Allow local data to be set.

To allow only first-party cookies and block all third-party cookies, check "Block third-party cookies and site data". This setting means that site data cannot be written and read, even if you've added a site to the exceptions list and have chosen to allow its cookies.

 

Note: To use AdviserGo, VoyantGo or Snapshot, you must at least allow for (and later accept) prompts for first-party cookies from the Voyant website.

 

Check that your settings were saved. If you go to a site and a cookie is blocked, in the address bar you'll see a blocked cookie icon. 

 

 

 

Open Microsoft Edge.

 

Click on the More actions button in the top right corner and select Settings.

 

 
Scroll down the settings and click the View advanced settings button.

 

 

Under Cookies, select one of the three options to allow or block cookies.

 

 

Note: To use AdviserGo, VoyantGo or Snapshot, you must at least allow first-party cookies. Select either "Don't block cookies" or "Block only third party cookies".

 

Safari
In Safari, click Safari > Preferences and choose Privacy.

 

By default, Safari blocks cookies from third-parties and advertisers, but you can change this to always block cookies (to completely disable cookies), or to never block cookies (to enable them).

 

Select a “Cookies and website data” option:

 

- Always block: Safari doesn’t allow any websites, third parties, or advertisers store cookies and other data on your Mac. This may prevent some websites from working properly.

 

- Allow from current website only: Safari accepts cookies and website data only from the website you’re currently visiting. Websites often have embedded content from other sources. Safari does not allow these third parties to store or access cookies or other data.

 

- Allow from websites I visit: Safari accepts cookies and website data only from websites you visit. Safari uses your existing cookies to determine whether you have visited a website before. Selecting this option helps prevent websites that have embedded content in other websites you browse from storing cookies and data on your Mac.

- Always allow: Safari lets all websites, third parties, and advertisers store cookies and other data on your Mac.

 

Note: To use the AdviserGo you will need to at least select “Allow [cookies] from current website only”.

 

 

Mozilla Firefox
Cookies are enabled by default in Firefox. To check or change your settings:

 

Click the menu    button and choose Options.

 

 

Select the Privacy panel.
