Schwab Integration - US

In this video we will walk you through how to import information from Schwab into Voyant.

Transcript:

Voyant's integration with Schwab allows you to import client information and investment accounts directly into Voyant, reducing manual data entry and helping you build financial plans more efficiently.

This guide walks you through enabling the integration, importing a client, and updating their investment holdings to reflect Voyant's market assumptions.

Step 1: Enable the Schwab Integration

Before using the integration, you'll need to have it enabled on your Voyant account.

To request access, contact our support team at support@planwithvoyant.com.

Once enabled, Schwab will appear as an available option when importing clients into Voyant.

Step 2: Import a Client from Schwab

  1. Navigate to your Client List in Voyant.
  2. Click the + button in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Import Client.
  4. Choose Schwab from your list of available integrations.
  5. Search for your client by name and select the appropriate record.

Adding a spouse or partner

If your client has a spouse or partner you'd like to include in the plan, select Add a Spouse or Partner. You can then search for and select their Schwab client record.

If you're importing an individual client, simply select Import to continue.

Step 3: Review Client Information and Accounts

Once you've selected your client, you'll be prompted to review their personal information.

  1. Confirm the client's details and indicate whether they are retired.
  2. Click Next to review the investment accounts available from Schwab.
  3. For each account, choose whether to include it in the import:
    • Add (green): Include the account in the Voyant plan.
    • Skip: Exclude the account from the import.
  4. Click Done to complete the import.

Voyant will create a new client case containing the selected information and investment accounts.

You can review the imported accounts and make any necessary adjustments directly within the client case.

Step 4: Update Investment Holdings and Asset Allocation

Once the client has been imported, the next step is to connect the imported holdings to Voyant's underlying market assumptions.

This allows Voyant to calculate an expected average rate of return based on the account's asset allocation.

  1. Open the imported client case.
  2. Navigate to Manage Plans > Update Holdings.
  3. Review the list of investment holdings in the plan.
  4. Click Start Update to begin matching the holdings.
  5. Review the holdings that Voyant was able to identify.
  6. Click Done to save the updates.

Once completed, Voyant will use the matched holdings to establish the asset allocation and associated growth assumptions.

You can return to an individual investment account to review its asset allocation and expected average rate of return.

Important: Review any holdings that could not be matched to ensure the plan's asset allocation and growth assumptions accurately reflect the client's investments.
