FAQ - Let's See - Are the incomes shown in the cash flow gross or net amounts?

Question

Are the incomes (inflows) shown in the cash flow chart gross or net of taxes?

Answer

All employment earnings, other income, pension incomes and withdrawals from taxable accounts that are subject to CGT are shown in the cash flow chart in gross amounts. We then calculate total expenses, including taxes, and express these in the chart as the black need line. When income falls below need, which includes taxes, you will see a shortfall shown in red. If inflows exceed need, you will see surplus income above the need line.
