In this video, we will walk you through how to create and delete events in the Canadian software.
Transcript
For our first example, we’ll add a new event inside an item in the plan. Click the plus button in the bottom right and go to Income > Other Income. Let’s say Amy will do some freelance work for a few years, bringing in about $35,000 annually.
Next, go to the Timeline screen. Instead of selecting the events that automatically prepopulate, double-click in the gray area to set the start of the event. For example, Amy’s freelance income starts in the second year of the plan. Then, double-click to set the end event—say she finishes at age 60. Click Done to save.
Now, let’s look at deleting an event. Go to your Timeline and hover over the event icons to see what they represent. For example, if Amy decides she no longer wants to remodel the kitchen, you’ll see a blue banner indicating this event affects a particular item. Click Show Details, delete the connected item, then open the event again. The trash can icon will appear, allowing you to remove it from the plan. The kitchen remodel is now deleted.
To move an event on the timeline, click and drag it. For example, if Amy decides to work until age 65, simply drag the event to the new age. You can move it back the same way if needed.
Next, we’ll add a new event to the timeline. Click the plus button, then select Event. Amy wants to buy a boat at some point around age 60. Add the event to the timeline—it doesn’t need a monetary value yet. This serves as a marker for future discussion with the client. You can delete it or update it later once the cost is known.
I hope this helps! If you have any questions, click the name of your client in the top right, select Request Support, enter your message into the text box, and share client access.
