Plan Differences Overview and Promotion - CA

Transcript

In this video, I’m going to demonstrate the Overview Plan Differences feature and how to use Promotion within it.

I’m currently in my client Peter’s base plan, looking at the Cash Flow – Detailed chart. You can also view this in other charts, such as the Dual chart. As you can see here, Peter has plenty of assets at the end of his plan.

Now, I’ve created a What-If plan called “Can I spend more in retirement?”

In this What-If scenario, I’ve added two new retirement goals:

  • Extra spending on holidays

  • Purchasing a new car

With these changes in place, I can compare the What-If plan to the base plan using the Overview → Plan Differencestool. Here, you’ll see the specific items I’ve added.

The key feature I want to highlight today is Promotion. This allows you to take selected items from a What-If plan and move them into the base plan.

In this case, I’ll promote both the holiday goal and the new car purchase. After promotion, there’s no difference between the two plans—if I switch back to the chart comparison view, you’ll see they now look identical.

Here’s why this feature is useful:

  • It allows you to easily compare scenarios side-by-side.

  • You can selectively promote items your client likes into the base plan.

  • Once promoted, these items automatically carry through to all future What-If plans created from that base plan.

This makes it simple to explore possibilities—such as increasing retirement spending—and then incorporate the goals your client agrees with directly into their long-term plan.

Thank you for watching.
