How to Upload Custom Market Assumptions in AdviserGo

This article explains how to upload and manage custom market assumptions in AdviserGo, including required permissions, file requirements, configuration options, and how to apply assumptions to client plans.

Who Can Upload Custom Market Assumptions

To upload custom market assumptions, you must be one of the following:

  • Subscription Owner
  • Subscription Manager
  • A user with the Market Assumptions Setup role

Required Files

You will need two CSV files, both formatted exactly to specification:

  1. Investment Averages file
  2. Correlation Coefficient file

⚠️ Both files must follow strict formatting rules.
If you need help with formatting, contact Voyant Support before uploading.

Accessing Custom Market Assumptions

  1. Log in to AdviserGo
  2. From the homepage, click Configure (top menu)
  3. Select Custom Market Assumptions

This opens the Custom Market Assumptions screen.

What You’ll See

  • A list of previously uploaded custom assumptions
  • Software default assumptions do not appear
  • White-label uploaded assumptions do not appear

Adding a New Set of Market Assumptions

  1. Click the plus (+) button in the bottom-right corner
  2. Enter a name for the assumptions

This name will appear in Plan Settings when selecting assumptions for a client.

Default Assumptions for New Clients

You’ll be asked whether these assumptions should be used as the default for new clients:

  • Yes
    • Automatically applied to all new clients created by any user in the subscription
  • No
    • Existing defaults remain
    • Assumptions are available for manual selection per client

Best practice: Set this to No initially to test before applying globally.

Yield Treatment Setting

Select whether the mean returns in your Investment Averages file include yield:

  • Yes – Mean return already includes yield
  • No – Yield is applied on top of the mean return

Assumption Type

Choose one of the following:

Geometric

  • No additional options required

Arithmetic

  • An additional option appears:
    • Choose whether to approximate the geometric mean

For guidance on arithmetic vs geometric assumptions, contact Voyant Support.

Testing Assumptions in a Client Plan

Voyant strongly recommends testing assumptions before using them with live clients.

  1. Open a test client (or create a new one)
  2. Go to Plan Settings
  3. Select Market Assumptions
  4. Click Change
  5. Select the new custom assumptions
  6. Click Apply Changes

Error Messages When Applying Assumptions

  • You may see warnings when switching assumption sets
  • In most cases, clicking Continue is sufficient
  • If errors persist, contact Voyant Support for assistance

Best Practices

  • Always test assumptions on a non-production client
  • Verify outputs before setting assumptions as default
  • Confirm yield treatment and assumption type carefully
  • Keep original CSV files for version control
