Specifying a Time Span in Detailed Reports
This video walks through a new feature in Voyant that allows you to limit detailed reports to a specific time span, rather than showing the full lifetime of the plan.
This is especially useful when you only want to share or review a focused period, such as the next few years or a defined planning window.
Selecting Detailed Reports
- Open the client record and navigate to Reports.
- Select the detailed reports you want to generate.
- In this example:
- Cash Flow (Detailed Analysis)
- Assets
- In this example:
These reports are added to your report selection list.
Choosing a Time Span for the Report
Instead of generating reports for the full lifetime of the plan, you can limit the years included.
Within the report configuration:
- Select Years
- Choose from the available options:
- First five years
- Every fifth year
- Clear all years
- Custom time span
Using a Custom Time Span
If you prefer a specific range:
- Enter a custom time span (for example, 2023 to 2033)
- This would generate a report covering 10 years, rather than the full plan
In this example, the First Five Years option is selected.
Click Done to save the timeline selection.
Generating the Report
- Click Generate Report
- Open the downloaded report
You will now see:
- The Cash Flow (Detailed Analysis) report
- The Assets report
showing only the selected years, rather than the entire lifetime of the plan.
Why This Feature Is Helpful
- Keeps reports more concise and client-friendly
- Allows focus on near-term planning or review periods
- Reduces unnecessary long-term data when it isn’t relevant
- Ideal for annual reviews or short-term planning discussions
