​Overview

Advisers can now set a password on individual client profiles in AdviserGo. This feature limits access to sensitive client information by requiring a password entry before the client can be opened. Password protection is available for all advisers with full control over a client, and the feature supports multiple entry points including direct links and launch-in-context configurations.

 

Setting or Resetting a Password

Advisers with Full Control can manage client passwords through the Admin Console.

Select the client from the client list and open the client to password protect. Click the client name at the top right and select View in Admin Console.

 

This opens the View Client details in the Admin Console. Select the Set/Reset Client Password link to set a password.

 

Enter your chosen password. Passwords must be at least 8 characters long, must match, and cannot contain special characters.

 

Click Confirm. The changes take effect immediately and are indicated by a lock icon on the client.

 

 

 

Opening a Password Protected Client

When you open a password-protected client for the first time in your session, you will be redirected to a protected access page. This applies regardless of whether you access the client via the client list, a direct link, or launch-in-context.

This page displays basic client information (name, country, dates) so you can confirm you're accessing the correct client.

Enter the password and click Open Client.

Once you enter the correct password, your access is cached for the duration of your session, allowing you to navigate between AdviserGo and the Admin Console without re-entering the password. If you navigated to a specific page via a link, you will be returned to that page after successful entry. By default, you’ll be directed to the Dashboard page.

If you used a direct link to a specific page (e.g., Reports, Timeline), you'll be redirected to that page after entering the password.

The password is only required once per session. After you've successfully entered it, you can navigate freely within that client without being prompted again.

 

Permissions and Roles

Access and management are determined by your role:

  • Advisers with Full Control: These users can set, reset, and delete passwords for their own clients.
  • Subscription Managers and Above: These users can delete a password from a client, but they must still enter the password to access the client plan.
  • Administrative Roles (Admin, Entity Group Manager, Self-Hosted Admin): These users are exempt from password entry requirements and can view protected clients directly.
  • Read-Only Users: These users must enter the password to access protected clients and cannot set, reset, or delete passwords.
    • Consumer users (clients logging into their own accounts) are not prompted for a password — they are redirected to their dashboard as usual after logging in.

If you navigate to a URL for a client that doesn't exist, you'll be redirected back to the Client List automatically.
