We also have a short video that you can watch on modelling an Early Mortality Modelling an Early Mortality - Video

Creating an Early Mortality What-If Plan

Navigate to the What-If section of the plan.

Select Guided Plan Creation and choose Change Life Expectancy

Locate the client whose mortality you want to adjust. Click and drag the mortality event to the desired age

  • In this example, Robert's Life Expectancy has been moved to age 72.

Click the arrow to the right of your screen to go onto the next step.

Check that you are happy with the change of the clients mortality and click the arrow at the right side of screen

This will create a new What-if scenario modelling an early mortality event.  You will get a notification, at the top of your screen, to ask you if you wish to keep the plan. Select YES.

Renaming the What-If Scenario (Optional but Recommended)

To make the scenario easier to identify:

Click the clients plan name in the top right corner. Select Manage Plans.

Click Plan Details.

Update the plan name to something descriptive (for example, Modelling an Early Mortality for Robert - age 72.) Click Save

Comparing the plans with a client to review the Impact of the early mortality

Once the What-If plan is created:

Review the Cash Flow chart to check whether the plan shows a shortfall by clicking on Lets See > Compare Plans > Chart View.

This allows you to visually compare the base plan and the early mortality What-If scenario during a client meeting.

In this example, no shortfall is projected following the early mortality event.

Key Takeaways

  • Early mortality scenarios should be modeled using What-If plans, not the base plan
  • Guided Plan Creation makes mortality modeling quick and controlled
  • Comparing plans visually helps guide client conversations
